Private Lesson with Bam

Bam is an amazing instructor (and a genuinely nice guy as well)! He is not only passionate about the drums, but is also a wealth information for all things drum related. I’ve been working with him for a couple of months, and I’m way ahead of where I thought I’d be at this point. It’s obvious that he always puts a lot of thought into planning our sessions, and tailoring them specifically to what I need to improve. The sessions are challenging, but always fun and he has a knack for finding the sweet spot between being challenging and overwhelming. He is always enthusiastic and extremely generous with his time commitment. Our sessions always run longer than scheduled so that we can get though all the topics and music he planned to cover. The post session follow-up is great as well, and he provides a review of what we covered, things to work on for the next session, as well as other items that I always find useful. Plus, I really appreciate that he is available and willing to take on questions and provide advice on things that I might get stuck on between sessions. Bam is a great communicator, and his price is very reasonable, especially given the level of attention he provides. I would very highly recommend him as an instructor.

Had my first lesson with Bam today. Bam is amazing teacher and person. He is very knowledgeable about music and has great energy. His lesson was completely customized to me, my music tastes, and my level, based on a series of questions he posed to me before we got started. He had printed exercises and transcriptions of a play along song ready for me and had also loaded up the song on his iPod to allow me to play to. He noted numerous points about my stroke dynamics and timing and gave me amazing guidance on how to improve. Bam kept me a hair outside my zone of comfort and was encouraging through out. I came away feeling really motivated and have already practiced more that I have ever done in a day. I’ll be back to continue my drumming journey with Bam on a regular basis.

My experience with Bam has been awesome. He literally takes up so much time outside of the class to prepare for teaching you specifically with exercises, resources, etc. Then the whole class feels like nothing's wasted in terms of time, he knows how to adjust the material in the lesson to being just outside of your comfort zone so you can grow without it being stressful, the class is actually a lot of fun and Bam is a pleasure to interact with on a personal level! He is certainly a hidden gem in the world of music lessons in my opinion!

 

 

Coaching sessions with me are very individualized and have concepts and multi media options that most instructors fail to utilize, but that I feel are essential to getting to best performance  quickly and properly.

I create exercises and musical etudes specific to your needs and the musical path you want to travel, and add  the to the core drumming repertoire when and wherer appropriate.

I teach many styles such as, Rock Blues Country and Jazz  and have played in bands locally in all those genres.

Lesson format typically starts with warm ups (Sticking/Rudiments), then Reading and Performance exercises for drumset and then play-alongs (learning songs). This is all setup to give you a vocabulaary to perform and unleash the drummimg and music inside of you.

 I record the sessions so you have a copy to reference and review if you'd like.

I constantly send out content in between sessions to keep you motivated and to enhance the learning experience.
This content consists of videos of drummers, articles from drumming magazines, you tube video lessons as well as additional exercises to achieve greater musical knowledge and performance and move us further along the musical journey, doing it faster and more comprehensively than typical drum lessons.

I also help evaluate and help recommend drum equipment choices to get the most out of your drumming experience.
